The Russian Federation has made a proposal to Japan regarding the consideration of a number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in Sakhalin and along the pipeline “Power of Siberia”. This statement was made by Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev.

“It concerns the creation of a medical center in the Far East and new facilities for the production of liquefied natural gas on Sakhalin Island and along the route of the gas pipeline” Power of Siberia “. Also, this applies to some other projects,” – said Ulyukayev in the interview with the Japanese television channel NHK.

“First of all we would like to consider this matter as quickly as possible in order to reach an agreement what projects we support. It is clear that we cannot support all the projects we have prepared. But we would like to carry out the selection and understand how many specific projects will be implemented.  It’ll give us the understanding what we will do from the Russian side and what our colleagues from the Japanese side are going to do, “- said the Minister.

According to the Minister, he had a meeting with the heads of the Japanese company JDC in Tokyo, where they discussed the LNG projects. Ulyukayev said that the attitude of the Japanese side to the proposal was very positive. In his words there is a potential interest in the projects.

The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation noted that the list of potential partners regarding this project is not closed.
