“Novatek” , the largest Russian private gas producer, has won at the auction the right for the exploration and production on the Syadorsky field, Yamal. And it is not going to take part in tenders for the Israeli shelf. This information came from RIA Novosti on Monday. The agency refers to the Russian billionaire Leonid Michelson, head of the company “Novatek”.

In particular, Mr.Michelson said: “We have detailed information on potential projects. But we don’t put this issue in a priority. “

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited Russian companies to take part in competitions on the Israeli shelf. This proposal was made at the press conference with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, in June this year.

According to him the company “Novatek” is going to produce gas in Yakutia.

“We have taken a decision that we are interested in this region”, – said Leonid Michelson. Speaking at the Easten Economic Forum, the billionaire explained the interest in Yakutian deposits by the fact that “Novatek” “needed to be developed.”

“Novatek” is building a plant on Yamal. The company is going to produce liquefied natural gas with the capacity of 16.5 million tons annually. The first stage of the plant is 5.5 million tons. It will be launched next year.

The company will receive a license to use the Syadorsky field for 25 years. The reserves of the field are about 25 cubic meters of gas. “Novatek” will pay 404 million rubles for an exploration and field development license, – says the message of the company.

“A license for the Syadorsky field allows increasing the Company’s resource base in the northern part of the Yamal Peninsula”, – says the report.
