It became known about the intentions of Google Inc. to buy back part of the HTC Corporation. We recall that the Taiwanese company HTC specializes in the production of smartphones and tablets.
The amount of the future transaction is also not hidden. It is equal to 1.1 billion US dollars. However, the exact information about the specific part of HTC, which is going to be bought by Google, has not been published yet. It is only known that within the framework of the transaction there will be a migration of the team, engaged in the development of a smartphone Pixel. In addition, the American giant will get a license for the intellectual property of HTC.

At the moment, the capitalization of the Taiwan electronics manufacturer is estimated at $ 1.9 billion. Some time ago, HTC could be called a leader in the smartphone market, but in recent years, the company has lost its prime position. So, in 2016 only a little less than 13 million smartphones were sold. This is less than 1% in the global market.

HTC has developed a flagship smartphone Pixel for Google. Statistics show that last year one million of these devices were sold. The American giant plans to strengthen its position in the smartphone market by joining the development team from HTC.

Google makes the second purchase of electronics manufacturers. The first one was a 5-year-old deal. Then the American giant acquired the Motorola Mobility concern. The deal amounted to 12.5 billion US dollars. Later, Google resold the Motorola Mobility to the company Lenovo Group.

After the transaction, the Taiwan Company HTC will focus on the development of the division that produces devices for virtual reality. In particular, they will work on the production of helmets Vive, which are the leaders in sales in its segment.
