Representatives of the media and business do not want to attend the Saudi Arabia Forum

Media and business do not want to participate in the forum “Davos in the Desert” in Saudi Arabia, which might actually be deserted.

JP Morgan has already announced that CEO Jamie Dimon will not take part in the event. A little earlier, Ford delivered the same message – the head of the board of directors William Ford was not going to attend the forum.

CNBC, Financial Times, CNN and the New York Times were also withdrawn. These media groups will not be represented on the forum in Saudi Arabia.

Despite this, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Minister of Finance Steven Mnuchin noted that they would take part in the event scheduled for the next week.

Experts agree that the withdrawal of media representatives and the refusal of major businessmen to go to Saudi Arabia are justified by the conflict of the countries over the disappearance of the Washington Post journalist Jamal Hashkaji. After the journalist entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, no one saw him. Many feel that the opposition journalist was tortured and killed there. The high-profile case  is currently under investigation in Istanbul.

The forum in Riyadh will be held in late October. Last year, a large-scale event in the world of economics, business and finance gathered more than four thousand specialists from 90 countries. According to data for September, over 100 business leaders from different countries are expected to attend the forum.
