Chinese investment in the US increased to $ 8 billion in 2015
In 2015 China invested the total amount of unprecedented value of $ 8.03 billion in the form of direct investment in the US. According to Xinhua News Agency, this has amounted to 5.5% of China’s direct investment abroad.
According to the statistics of China’s foreign direct investment last year, the investments in the US manufacturing sector grew by 122.2% to $ 4 billion. Japan invested $ 2.24 billion to the area of leasing and commercial services of the US. Investments in science and technical services amounted to $ 1.23 billion.
On the whole, last year the Chinese companies signed 97 merger and absorption agreements with the United States, totaling $ 13.05 billion. From this amount $ 11.19 billion was realized as the funds reinvestment by the Chinese enterprises that had been created outside the PRC. Analysts are concerned because of the intense increase of Chinese investments abroad against the background of the slowing economic growth.
According to the Ministry of Commerce of China, the country’s foreign direct investment, which is not related to the financial sector, has soared by 53.3% for the period of January-August 2016 compared to the same period in 2015 – 775 billion yuan ($ 116 billion). At the same time, direct investment into China from abroad has risen by 4.5%, amounting to 548.8 billion yuan ($ 82.2 billion).
Accordingly, in 2016 China once again has proved to be a net exporter of investment for several years in a row. However, before that it had been the capital importer since 1982.
