Gref: Sberbank will have implemented the contactless payment technology by 2020
Sberbank of Russia is planning to complete the implementation of the contactless payment system by 2020. The head of the bank German Gref has told the media about this on Thursday.
According to him, the development of the network of the contactless devices will be completed by 2020. “The implementation of non-contact devices is in our plans until the year 2020, that is we will not have any contact devices: this work will have been completed in 4 years”, – Gref said. In addition, he said that soon the Russian Federation would have solved the problem with a single ID of every citizen.
“Then we will need neither plastic nor contacts – nothing. Then it will be possible to identify. Now we are working hard with our partner MasterCard – voice identification, the identification of the image “, – said Gref. He noted that Sberbank had already developed the fingerprint identification project.
The head of Sberbank said: “I think we’ll make a huge breakthrough in this sphere before 2020 and, in principle, you will not need to carry any documents with you. Everything will be in the mobile phone, and your identity will be carried out through the image or voice. “
In early October, Svetlana Kirsanova, Director of Merchant Acquiring at Sberbank, reported that before the end of the next year the bank was going to finish the equipping of all outlets, which the Bank was servicing, with the devices for contactless payments.
