In recent times the Bank of England has become the subject to criticism. The fact is that when using a five-pound note, animal fats were used. As is known, a considerable percentage of the population of the British Isles are religious people from India. Religion forbids them not only to eat meat, but also touch everything that contains components of animal origin. This part of the British citizens, together with vegetarians, vegans and raw food eaters without expressed religious beliefs became furious because of the composition of the banknotes.
A petition addressed to the Bank of England regarding the destruction of intolerant banknotes has been signed by more than 100 thousand people so far. The Bank of England promised to take the problem seriously, changing the composition of the notes in the future. Thus, animal fats will be replaced with palm oil. Unfortunately, this step may lead to new petitions from the environmental group. The fact is that rain forests are cut down for the production of palm oil. Over the last two decades, not less than 10% of the planet’s “green fund” has been suffered from this.
In this situation we can only sympathize with the Bank of England and advise them not to disclose publicly the composition of plastic banknotes in the future.
