The company Scripps Networks is known to an ordinary viewer for interesting channels of a certain subject. No politics or topical news, but only programmes about culinary delights, designer miracles with interiors and relaxed trips.
Discovery Communications, famous for such channels as Animal Planet, Discovery and, for example, Eurosport, reported in a press release on the upcoming takeover of Scripps Networks. The amount of the transaction is not hidden. It is equal to 14.6 billion US dollars, i.e. 90 US dollars in terms of per share. This is almost a third higher than the market price of shares of the telecommunications company.
After the merger, every fifth consumer of paid TV in the USA will become the audience of the company. It is assumed that the approximate volume of the produced content will amount to 8 thousand hours per year.
Due to this information, shares of both companies are growing in price. Discovery Communications – by 4.2%, and Scripps Networks –by 1.5%. The trend will continue for some time.
