It became known how much money multinational tourists had spent during the championship. So, according to Alexey Sorokin, Chairman and CEO of the Local Organizing Committee 2018, fans spent a total of about 100 billion rubles to watch the spectacular show.
At a joint session of the Presidential Council for the Development of Sports and Physical Culture with the Supervisory Board of the Local Organizing Committee Russia 2018, Mr. Sorokin disclosed information that 1.7 billion rubles had been contributed to the Treasury of the capital, the total amount of proceeds from all cities was close to 100 billion rubles.
The figures announced by Alexey Sorokin contradict those published by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. We recall that he said that the capital had earned about 13 billion rubles at the World Football Championship.
Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for economic policy informed the public about the third version of Moscow’s earnings during the World Cup. In her opinion, 96.6 billion rubles were spent in Moscow. At the same time, total proceedings to budgets of all levels amounted to about 19 billion rubles.
To sum up, it is completely unclear how much money was earned due to the tourists during the World Cup, but only one thing is clear – it was earned a lot.
