Amazon costs more than a trillion

During yesterday’s trading session the cost of the Internet retailer Amazon rose above one trillion dollars. The company’s share price rose by almost 2% to 2 thousand US dollars, but then it fell back to the level of 1.1%.

Before now, Apple was the only company in the world, whose value was more than the cherished mark of one trillion. The company has managed to cross it in early August this year. At the moment, the company’s capitalization is being estimated at $ 1.1 trillion.

Other media-technical corporations of America- Google (Alphabet) and Microsoft- are progressively approaching the capitalization of one trillion.

Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s owner, founder and general director, is the richest man in the world. Forbes estimates his wealth at 167 billion US dollars. Before that, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, could boast such personal wealth. In 1990 he had 100 billion US dollars. If he prices stayed unchanged, it would be $ 149 billion at the moment.

Mr. Bezos left only one record unconquered. It deals with the ratio of the personal wealth to the gross product of the country. This achievement belongs to the world’s first billionaire John Rockefeller. At the beginning of the last century, his wealth was equal to 2% of GDP. To achieve such an indicator in the current conditions, Jeff Bezos will have to at least double his wealth.

Amazon was created in 1994 and at first a garage was the company’s office. When Amazon started its business, the site sold only books. The current Amazon is a global corporation with revenues of $ 200 billion per year. The company employs more than 550 thousand people.
