A famous automaker Toyota (Japan) is going to withdraw more than a million of its cars in order to eliminate the defect of the electrical equipment. There are this brand cars all over the world and their engines can theoretically catch on fire.
The defect is observed in models released in the last two years (the years 2016-2018). These include Prius, Prius Plug-in Hybrid and C-HR Petrol/Electric Hybrid Cars.
Toyota will withdraw 192 thousand cars from America. This will affect the models Prius and Prius Prime. C-HR models are not supplied to the USA. The largest part of defected cars was found in Japan.
The main problem to be sold is increased wear of wires coming from the engine. They may cause a short circuit and the engine may catch on fire.
The case of fire has already been there. It happened in Japan. The defect associated with the wires became its reason. This was reported by the representatives of Toyota. No one was hurt because of the incident.
At the end of this month, the company will inform its American clients about the withdrawal of the cars.
Toyota is the largest Japanese automaker that produces serial cars of various classes, as well as sports models that participate in regular competitions. Annually the company sells about 7 million cars, earning more than 20 billion US dollars.
