The US State Department has announced that after the strategic negotiations with India, the parties reached a decision that the US would build 6 nuclear power plants on Indian territory.
States reaffirmed their cooperation in the areas of security and the use of the peaceful atom for civilian purposes. The agreement on the construction of power plants will contribute to strengthening the relations of the parties.
According to the representatives of the US State Department, India and the United States exchanged their views on security issues, and non-proliferation of mass weapons. Moreover, they discussed actions to prevent the use of weapons by terrorists and organizations not controlled by the state.
The dialogue was held in the US capital last Wednesday. Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale represented India. The States were represented by Andrea Thompson, Under-Secretary of State.
