The head of the American Ministry of Finance said that the delegation to Beijing in order to take part in the trade negotiations had had a productive meeting. He also stressed that he couldn’t wait to return to the negotiations.

The head of the Ministry of Finance and the US trade representative are holding another round of talks and hope that they will be effective.

Arriving in the capital of China, Mr. Mnuchin said that he and Robert Lighthizer were happy to return to Beijing again and were counting on a productive dialogue.

Gao Feng, spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said that the parties had finally achieved some progress in the negotiations, but there was still a lot of work to be done.

The next time negotiations will take place in early April in Washington.

During the G-20 summit, the leaders of China and the United States agreed to postpone the tightening of trade duties until March 1 in order to form a new agreement. Following the results of February consultations, the postponement was extended.

US President Donald Trump says that duties on goods will be maintained for a short time until he makes sure that China is fulfilling its obligations under the agreement that has yet to be reached.
