The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has cut its key rate by 25 basis points, now its value is 6.25%.
Experts were not surprised by such a step of the regulator, although some market analysts believed that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation would prefer to keep the rate at the level of 6.5% .
The press release issued by the Central Bank states that inflation is slowing faster than expected. Also, we have learned that the growth rate of the national economy has grown, but it is not yet possible to assess their sustainability.
It is possible that in the first half of the coming year, the national regulator will continue to reduce the value of the key rate.
The Central Bank has lowered its inflation forecast for 2019: from 3.2-3.7% to 2.9-3.2%. The forecast for this indicator for 2020 was kept at 3.5-4.0%. Regulator analysts believe that the GDP growth rate for 2019 will be closer to the upper end of the range of 0.8-1.3%.
