Every year, China hosts the World Economic Forum known as the Chinese Davos. It is held in the resort town of Boao on the island of Hainan. This year it will be put off due to the epidemic of pneumonia. It was planned to hold the event from March 24 to March 27.
In February, the organizers suggested postponing the event for another period, until the stabilization of the situation.
The meeting of the National People’s Congress was also canceled because of the virus. It was scheduled for March 5.
According to various publications, a large number of events scheduled for March and April were canceled in China. Coronavirus has taken the lives of 2.2 thousand people, so it is logical that the authorities avoid holding public events.
As of February 21, in China (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao), 75.5 thousand cases of virus infection were recorded. Unfortunately, 2.2 thousand people died. Outside of China, the number of people infected has already exceeded one thousand. Of these, 7 people have not beaten the disease.
