By results of yesterday’s trading session, Apple Inc. shares fell 2.1%, closing at around 224.37 US dollars. Thus, the tech giant from Cupertino is no longer a member of the impromptu “trillionaire club” as its capitalization fell below $ 1 trillion.
Apple’s capitalization has been above a trillion US dollars for six months. Just about a month ago, this figure almost reached the level of 1.4 trillion US dollars. After that, a grand rollback began; the capitalization of the high-tech giant fell by almost a third (31%). For comparison, over the same period of time, the S&P 500 index lost 34%.
Apple was the first in the market to announce that the coronavirus epidemic would negatively affect quarterly reporting.
At the moment, Microsoft Corp is still the only American company whose capitalization exceeds a trillion.
We know four American companies with the capitalization of more than $ 1 trillion. They are Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon. During yesterday’s session, Microsoft’s value totaled $ 1.03 trillion, Amazon was estimated at $ 947 billion and Alphabet was worth $ 725 billion.
Also, an oil and gas company Saudi Aramco has the capitalization of more than a trillion. Earlier this year, the holding’s value exceeded $ 2 trillion, but now this indicator is about $ 1.5 trillion.
